How do I care for my pottery?

Dishwasher:  OK, but take care to protect any delicate parts, such as handles and mouse ears, from bumping against other dishes.

Microwave:  OK, but be aware that hot food can transfer heat to your stoneware.  Handle with care and oven mitts if necessary.   For platters and flat bottom casseroles: food should be placed over the entire bottom in an even layer to produce even heating.

A note on Thermal Shock:  This is what can cause your dishes to crack.  Don’t put piping hot food in a cold dish.  Take a moment to pre warm your bowl or platter with a little hot tap water.  Likewise, very cold foods should not go directly into a hot dish.

Oven:  While my pieces have been fired more than 2200 degrees and my glazes tested to withstand normal kitchen use, I am not presently making pieces that I would recommend using in the oven.

Stovetop: Never Never Never!

Will you do a special order for me?

Yes, I do special orders for any pieces I have already listed in my catalog.   Please be aware that special orders can take 8-12 weeks to complete, depending on my firing schedule.

Special orders in colors other than are listed may require an additional firing to sample color results, which would be mailed to you for approval.  I am happy to do this for you.  Please email your request.  I will let you know if I can fill your order, and send you a price quote.
